Peg-y-Don virtual tour

Techno overload or helpful feature? Try out the new virtual tour.

I have a confession to make. I may have got a little carried away…

Peg-y-Don now has a virtual tour. You can let yourself in and have a good nose around all the key rooms – you can see for yourself on The House page.

Technology overload?

Quite possibly. I have a nagging worry that the virtual tour may actually steal our own thunder. Arriving at Peg-y-Don for the first time can be really special. As you walk into the living room, the view can take your breath away and guests often tell us that the house is even better in real life than it looked online, and we would hate to ruin that.

Thankfully, we do not think that we can. A screen will show you where the sofa is. It will not show you the light changing over the bay through the day, the sea air when you open the doors, or a G&T on the bench as the sun goes down. Think of the tour as the trailer. The film is still very much worth seeing.

Why we did it anyway

It is not just to satisfy my inner geek – the truth is that I am often asked perfectly sensible questions prior to a booking, e.g.:

  • Which bedroom has the en-suite?
  • Is the twin room big enough for two adults?
  • Where would the travel cot go?
  • What are the stairs like?
  • Is there space for the dog’s bed?

Photos help, but they never quite show how the rooms fit together or how much space there really is. We have always been happy to answer these by email, and we still are, but now you can simply walk through and see for yourself.

It should be especially handy if you are organising a trip for a group. You can now settle the delicate matter of who gets which bedroom before you set off, which we strongly recommend over doing it in the hallway on arrival.

The tour…

Enough of the chat, here is the tour so that you can try it for yourself:

I am actually going to do take the photographs again when we are next at the house as you cannot really see the amazing views (geek overload, but I thought I was using exposure bracketing, but it turns out that I wasn’t…) but I hope it gives you a good sense of the rooms themselves.

It is actually best viewed in full screen, ideally on a computer screen. You can click on the ‘Fullscreen’ button (four arrows exploding outwards) in the tour itself, but it isn’t always visible if you are on a mobile device. Click here to view it in a new window.

What you will have to come and see for yourself

The beach, a few minutes’ walk from the door. The coast path. The dirty fries at the Cat Rock Cafe. Sunset from the garden. No amount of technology is going to cover those, and we promise not to try.

So have a look around, and if you like what you see, check availability and come and do it properly. As ever, if the tour does not answer your question, please get in touch and we will help.

Just do me one favour. When you walk in for the first time, act surprised 🙂
